About us:

CG was founded on October 5, 2007 by a group of likeminded individuals whom share the same in-game goals, dedication and perseverance to achieve those goals. What defines us is our love for raiding and the desire to see and experience new content. Our goals from the onset have been to see new content at a steady and rewarding pace but never at the expense of our real lives. We began raiding 25-Man content as a guild in January 2008 and have made some awesome friends along the way.

It is important for us to remember and not lose sight of the fact that this is a game - not a job. It should never feel like a chore. If it does, we are doing something wrong. We all play this game for different reasons but the most prevalent one is fun. Thus, our #1 goal is to have fun and enjoy our time together.

This is not to say there is no hard work involved. When we raid, we tend to take a more serious approach in that we have expectations for our raiders. All of our members are dedicated to the same common goal which requires hard work. There is always “work” involved if you want success, even in a game. But for us, the hard work and the challenge is part of the fun.

What is most important to us is forming friendships and at the same time experience new content at a steady and rewarding pace. To us, that is what makes this game fun - the people you meet and the places you go with them.

CHAOS has much to offer. We have players of every level, a lot of our players have level 80 characters, but we still have many  leveling their way up. If you are lower level, no worries, we have main characters and lower level alts that are there to help and group / quest with you. If you like to PVP we have a large group of people that certainly love to kick some Alliance Ass…pst (we hate gnomes) whether it is grouping up with guild members in the Battlegrounds or Arena Matches. We use  Ventrilo for raiding and also for everyday chat. Our ages range from a few younger (but mature) members to the mature section of us (no names mentioned here) and we alos have a token Brit. While we prefer 18+ when applying we don’t have a set age limit but we do expect some maturity.

CHAOS has been a long-standing guild on Skywall created for people who truly enjoy the game and enjoy finding refuge from the everyday grind. We are a casual progression endgame guild where low levels, new players, and veterans can come and play for fun, advance and not feel overwhelmed. If you want to RAID 8 hours a day 365 days a year you’re looking in the wrong place. Having said that, we run raids in Naxx(10), Ulduar (10)  several times a week, and run 25 man raids Tuesday and Sunday nights 7PM server time.

Remember we come here from all ages and play for different reasons. Some of us come just to solo, others to team up and grind for the day, run quests and instances, raid, kill alliance in PVP, or just chill and chat. All are different journeys and all our paths will cross. Remeber its your subscription, you play how you want to play, most of all it is a game and is life>>game so enjoy yourself.

Corrupted Destiny is a casual raiding guild that prides itself on progressing through raid instances while maintaining a fun and friendly environment. While raid attendance and specific specs are not required, we do have expectations for each person that wishes to raid. As a guild, we are ready, willing, and able to help members meet those expectations by participating in instance runs, crafting gear, or simply offering advice. We value our members as people and view their progress as a link in the chain of success for our guild.

Skywall is a friendly realm and there is little animosity between the guilds within the Horde faction. Many of the guilds “grew up” here together; we know each other, help one another out and cheer each other on. We may be biased but we think we have the best players in the game here, perhaps not in top progression in PVE/PVP, but in personality and willingness to go the extra mile for each other. We feel that speaks volumes about Skywall as a home.

A large majority of the players on Skywall have limited time to play; we are professionals in our chosen careers, have families, are in school or the military–myriad different situations that can limit our time to play. Because of this we want our time in game to be of the highest quality; we wish to surround ourselves with like-minded individuals who enjoy the game and the chosen path for their character be it PVE, PVP or perhaps a bit of both. We help those who help themselves and enjoy the company of those that understand that patience can go a long way in reaching the goals we have set for ourselves.

If you are looking for a realm with a strong sense of community and a laid-back but steady pace, look no further than Skywall.

Population & Realm Stability

Skywall is a medium-to-high population realm (it fluctuates); we do not have queue times except in rare cases (generally if we see them they are around the Christmas holiday and even then they are minimal) and the realm hardware is stable. Lag is relatively nonexistent in both the general areas and 5/10-man dungeons. We do see some minor lag in the 25 mans from time to time but nothing that makes the game unplayable as a group. World crashes and rollbacks are rare.

The player base on Skywall is pretty active and finding pickup groups is fairly easy as is looking for crafters and merchants. While the player base is active it is not overwhelming which allows for ease of questing and farming with minimal competition for mobs and goods.

Economy

Skywall has a stable, flourishing economy. The faction auction houses are chock full of merchandise and the prices are generally in line with what you will find on sites like Wowhead. We do see price fluctuations during peak times for goods (for instance at Christmas we always see the price of small eggs go up to make cookies with) and we do have the occasional scammer putting potions up for 10 times their worth. These situations are rare and most who visit the auction houses will find that the prices are reasonable while allowing players to make gold for their expenses.

PVE

Skywall has a large number of guilds that raid in PVE content on a more casual basis. This is not to say that we are not serious about progression and that there is no steady progression on Skywall, as there is; many guilds simply choose to take a slower pace.

Most of the progression raiding guilds on Skywall Horde-side are progressing through Ulduar and working on the Keepers or beyond. Many guilds are also working on Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum and Eye of Eternity. In addition to WotLK raid content we still see guilds running in old world content either for reputation/achievements, fun runs or to immerse themselves in the rich lore content of the game.  If old school raiding is something you are interested in, it can be found here.

5, 10 and even some 25 mans are easily run as pickup groups on the realm, both heroic and regular, provided you have patience. In other words if you spam Looking For Group for 5 minutes and no one answers you, you log off, chances are you were not patient enough. As with any realm, being a member of a guild that shares your play philosophy will greatly increase your ability to find players with whom to quest and run instances.

There are many types of raiding guilds within the Horde faction in the Skywall realm. Many players looking to transfer will be able to find an ideal guild for them here. We have compiled a comprehensive list of guilds on the realm, which can be viewed using the menu at the top of the page. We have categorized the guilds and will keep this list updated to help you find the best fit for your play schedule and goals.

PVP

While Skywall is a PVE realm, it does have PVP–do not be fooled! We have guilds dedicated to PVP in battlegrounds, arena and world PVP like Wintergrasp, as well as plenty of players in PVE-oriented guilds who are passionate about it. There is a nice balance here and having a choice between PVE or PVP can be ideal for many players. Many of us came here from PVP realms with the fear that we would not have much PVP in game on a PVE realm and we were pleasantly surprised to be wrong in that assumption.

Queue times for battlegrounds and arenas are relatively low (under 5 minutes) for the Horde faction, however we do see the time increase on PVP holidays, the day before honor calculations and real-life holidays when many players are off of work and school.

World PVP can be difficult at times due to the imbalance of the Alliance-to-Horde ratio. That said, it is not uncommon to gain control of the PVP areas or kill the Alliance leaders provided there is some organization around the attempts.

One thing that makes Skywall unique is the relationship between the factions. There has always been a friendship between Horde and Alliance on the realm. Those of us who play on Skywall value the player behind the toon and we realize that our Alliance counterparts are people just like us (albeit in our eyes they just rolled the wrong faction). As a result there are many cross-faction friendships. The Horde faction on this realm is very good at organizing world events. During the holidays we plan and execute large scale PVP events and invite our Alliance counter parts to hop in vent with us and have a fine time slaughtering one another in an all-out drunken grudge war.

Attitude Towards Transfers and Rerolls

The general attitude towards transfers and rerolls to the Horde faction on Skywall is viewed as a very positive step with both the Horde and Alliance faction on Skywall. While we do not want to cram our realm full of players and are thriving with our current population, we do feel that growing this realm slowly could benefit us in certain areas of PVE/PVP raiding. With that said, what we want more than anything is to attract players who share our vision of having a fun, friendly and relaxing realm to game on.

First up! The name Gorgonzola strikes me for some reason as a very exotic brand of cheese…. What was the reason you picked it at the time?

Well, when we first started on Skywall, it was me, my husband (who wanted to be Headcheese), my brother and a friend. Since my husband picked Headcheese, the three of us decided cheeses would be fun names. So we picked the ones we thought were the most fun to say. You have to admit. Gorgonzola. Fun to say!

What classes/characters are you most commonly playing these days?

My mains are Gorgo the Tree and Viglione the Protadin. I’m also leveling an arms warrior, Aloznogrog, for PvP. I’m a bit of an altoholic and I have at least one of everything. (I have two pallies…)

Hehe people joke that my alts make 3/4 of our guild population. >.>

What made you pick and stay with the resto druid and the prot paladin? And what of each of the classes do you enjoy the most?

I almost rerolled Gorgo at around level 20 because the healing, etc. was so different from the Nelf priest I left behind on Lothar. Headcheese talked me into it and I stuck with her and fell in love with her. I’ve always loved the challenge of out-healing the other healers with her. Plus the quick heals are nice for keeping a raid alive and allow me lots of time to chat and goof off. (Also, the dances for each form are a plus!) As for the protection pally, in the early days of Kara Team Swiss, we needed a tank. Bear butts are just too big for Kara and I wanted to level a blood elf paladin.

Gorgonzola the Tree cooks some of her favorite Golden Fish Sticks, while trying not to light herself on fire.

What made you come to Skywall originally?  And what keeps you here now?  What would you change?

We weren’t exactly happy on Lothar. We were the only lowbies in a small guild of 60s that were raiding Scholo and Strat. There was no real sense of community on that server, at least Alliance side.

Headcheese wanted to roll on Skywall when it opened because Lothar had gotten so crowded and we were so far behind. So, when my brother and his friend decided they wanted to play WoW with us, we just rerolled. Skywall has the sense of community we were looking for and we have built the tight-knit guild we wanted so I can’t imagine leaving.

For the most part, I think it’s a great place. Sometimes I think we could do without those people that deride our (and their) server because we are behind in (their definition of) raid progression (we all want to progress but some of us definitely don’t want it to be another career since we are having to pay to do it, not being paid to do it).

Rumor has it, you’re the guild mistress of Mediocrity in Motion…. Do you ever find yourself being accused of making “cheesy” jokes?

No, never >.> Everyone knows that my jokes are terrible and unfunny. But they laugh anyway because they either feel sorry for me or they fear being demoted.

Does the cheese theme apply to any of Mediocrity in Motion’s raids or, say, rank titles or whatnot?

Well, for a while, we had a fever of alts that were named after cheese. People got quite creative. Our rank titles are all varying degrees of slackers (Over-Achiever, Average Joe, Total Slacker) with Mediocrat (officer title) being the ultimate slacker. We used to have two Kara teams, though, named Swiss and Mozzarella once upon a time.

Where did the name Mediocrity in Motion originate from?  And were you the founding GM?

We initially started out wanting to call it Cheesenation or something similar to that because of the original cheeses. Mediocrity in Motion was a name that Headcheese pulled out of the air one day and the four founding members, including him, all thought it was hilarious.  Founding the guild was my idea because we hadn’t been able to find a guild that suited us perfectly so I decided that I’d pay for the charter and everything so I became GM. I don’t think any of the others really wanted that title, anyways.

How would you describe MiM’s demographic?   Does it tend to be mostly older or younger folks?

Our main demographic tends to be 25-35, I think. We have a couple of teens and some that are older than that but most of us tend to be about the same age. A lot of our players do have children that play their accounts so we always pretend to be juven… I mean we are always family oriented in guild chat >.>

Viglione takes on a ravenous mob of Troggs in the dangerous Ragefire Chasm…

I’m guilty of accidentally discovering the sacred art of bears gracefully obeying the law of gravity when jumping off of one of the ramps in Karazhan…. What is the most memorable raid wipe you’ve accidentally caused?

Let’s see. For Karazhan, I’m usually the main tank when I go. The last time I can remember wiping the raid was when I was tanking Prince and when they were telling me to move away from the Infernals, I kept mixing up my directions and would run right into the blasts >.>

I can’t remember anything funny…but mixing up left and right is pretty darn silly.  Hehe.

How about within MiM?  Has anyone performed a specatcularly silly act of ”Oops” causing both hilarity and many cries of “Run away!!!”?

It wasn’t anyone in MiM, exactly, but it was our most memorable wipe. Back in the MC days, we had a raiding alliance with Timesink. We wiped on Magmadar and were rezzing people because of all the trash respawns.  One priest from TS, who knows who she is and will willingly own up to and laugh about it, accidentally rezzed a hunter pet who went crazy and pulled the boss again. Many lols have been had over that one.

Is there anyone in MiM who has this nasty habit of making most monsters in a pull look at him/her and go “NOM NOM NOM!!”?

It seems that when Sportacus raids with us this happens. He’s a Disc or Holy Priest or something and I am beginning to think he only dies so that we have to rez him. I’d mention our elemental shaman for this, too. But, I am beginning to think that casting lightning bolt kills the shaman as well as the mob.

Is there anyone right now that you would give an “accidental” fatal dose of moonfire spam?  And is there anyone you know of that is out to arrange an accidental death via misdirect on you?

Yes. The next time those silly noobs don’t stand in melee range of the Ogre Brutes in Gruul’s Lair! /shakefist (Or the next time anyone leaves the poor resto druid to defend the farm by her lonesome). My needs for revenge are typically more situational than they are personal…hehe.

Not that I know of…/paranoidglanceovershoulder. I honestly hope that anyone that has a problem with me would just come out and say it so that I don’t have to sleep with one eye open. Besides, I always place the blame on someone else so that they never know it was me…

So, who is this ruthless GM who boots people for not laughing at her jokes?  What do you do outside of WoW for hobbies/work and whatnot?

Currently, at work, I’m an HR Administrator. That basically means I do data entry and run reports on our employees all day. However, I’m planning to move soon and am looking for a new job.  As far as hobbies, other than WoW, I’m obsessed with food so I split my time between watching Food Network, cooking and eating

What is one thing about you that folks maybe surprised about or likely didn’t know?

Most people don’t know that I secretly yearn to be a chef and have even considered applying to be a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen.

What is your favorite flavor of cheesecake/topping of choice?

Plain vanilla cheesecake with raspberry topping. The cheesecake should be really really really thick, too!

How did you come up with your name?

I’m the only girl in my group of real-life friends, and my nickname is Bo. Hence, Ho-Bo. Unfortunately, someone already had “Hobo.” If you are Hobo and reading this, I know we can work something out!

What drew you to play a rogue?

I like money. I love sneaking around stealing from everyone. I do this thing where I pretend that the mobs are at their jobs. And later they are going to the vending machine on break, and they find out they’ve been robbed. I do the whole dialogue with funny voices. I do it in raids too. It’s probably pretty annoying on vent.

Hobow prepares for battle. Is there really anything hotter than a chick with swords?

Do you prefer PVE or PVP?

PVE. I can’t move with my mouse. I’m not gonna learn. I don’t know what any other class does. I’m not gonna learn. I can’t remember what my poisons do. I’m not gonna learn. I don’t know where my Distract button is. I’m not gonna find it. Get the picture?

What are your professions and why did you choose them?

Herbalism (which I love) and mining (which I hate). My true passion in the game is fishing. Why? I’m strangely good at it. You can skill fishing to 350 in the lake in Orgrimmar. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

If you had to pick one word to describe Skywall, what would it be?

Friendly. We aren’t the best players of all time. So what? We stay together because we like each other. Any other server would have kicked us all out by now. Look at how many people have left and come back. Skywall is very Hotel California. If you are here, welcome to forever. When we finally get through with Black Temple in like 4 years, we’ll send postcards to Death and Taxes on Korgath. Screw ‘em. We have lives.

What is the one thing you would change about Skywall if you could?

I’d bring back everyone who was here at one time and prevent them from leaving. EVERYONE. From Rainfall to Graberette to Monstro to the full FSBO [For Sale by Owner] roster. And I’d let Odo be High Warlord. He got screwed. If you don’t know these names, you missed out. And fishing would be mandatory. Yeah, I know. That’s three wishes. What kind of genie only gives one wish?!

Assuming the position…

What’s your favorite memory of your time on this server?

Personal: Winning the STV fishing tourney. I worked for 9 months on it, and I was SO PROUD. Zappy sent me roses at work the next day. I tried explaining to people what they were for. I saw the worried looks on their faces. In the end, I told everyone I caught him in bed with a man. People were actually less concerned by that.

Group: The night Ohman made High Warlord. He is my BFIRL. Our real-life friends all got together that night and played at our house until the server reset at 4 a.m. and he was able to buy his gear. Then we went to IHOP and watched the sun rise. It was awesome.

Game: The first time I saw FSBO. Before a raid, they used to line up, military style, by class, race, and height outside Orgrimmar. They were like a machine. They were dripping in purple epics back when that meant something. It was the first time I realized that some people were playing a VERY different game than what I was playing.

What brought you to World of Warcraft?

My real-life friends (my husband Zappy, Mmpie, Ohman, Veeter and Starvoyager) started a pen and paper DnD game years ago. I rolled (literally) a rogue. If you have never done a pen and paper round, you are missing out. We switched from paper to WoW.

Why play Horde?

I love the underdog, and it’s a fantasy game. How “fantasy” is it to be a human? YAWN.

When you’re not online, what do you like to do?

I’m 36, and I have a full-time job. So if I’m not doing work, WoW or sleep, I’m at a concert (which I love), traveling (which I love), eating out (which I love) seeing my friends/family (which I love) or working out (which I hate).

How big was that fish that got away again?

What is one thing about you that would surprise the people you play with?

I’m married to Zappy (although most people probably know that) and I’m totally hot. LOL.

If you could pick one person from the realm to hang out with for a day (in real life) who would it be?

Not counting my real-life friends, my first reaction was the “Costas” [Costa Ricans]. It’s like raiding with the boy band Menudo. They have these great Spanish accents, awesome hair, and they are constantly changing the cast. I could visit the rainforest and the beach, and I bet they are fun as hell. But, that’s a group, not one person. So I’ll say, hands down, Edna.

What prompted you to do the series of interviews of players on Skywall?

I suck at WoW, and I didn’t leave Org for like a year. So I started my own game of meeting people with the best gear. I would go up to the most decked out toon in town and yell, “Hey Arakyl, this server ain’t big enough for both of us!” or something equally stupid. Most were nice about it. People even started waving to me in town, probably because I was so dumb. But one toon, Edna, simply refused to talk to me. I spent two months whispering, speaking, emoting, yelling, so on, until he finally said something to me. Years later, he still talks to me every time I log on.

After a while, I knew enough “big raiders” that I thought it would be fun to interview them for the forums. Because Edna so rarely talked to anyone, I picked him to be the first. I was surprised the articles caught on, but people seemed to enjoy them. Monstro even surprised me with a magazine cover he designed for me. That was one of my favorite WoW memories.

The last interview I did was for Mortanius of Defiance. He was 88 and terminally ill. He gave me an interview to be published upon his death. It is the only one I did about a real-life person, instead of the toon. People from Skywall, and even other servers, signed the post. His widow contacted me to thank me for the tribute. I never brought myself to write another interview after that one. I’m glad someone has decided to start them again, and I’m honored to be first.
