Skywall realm went live on April 28, 2005.
The timing of the release of the realm is significant to its current day status of a laid-back realm with steady, albeit slower-paced progression. Blizzard had just released the PVP honor system and this led to a higher than average amount of corpse camping and ganking on the PVP realms. While the acts of camping and ganking would eventually level out, many players on PVP realms, who had limited time to play and preferred not spending it running back to their corpses while trying to complete quests, chose to move to PVE realms.
Skywall was the first PVE realm to open after this system went into effect (this was before Blizzard allowed paid transfers of existing characters), thus many of the players on the realm are those who chose to reroll on a PVE realm.
Though Skywall has never been known for its progression in PVE, it has maintained a steady pace. Taking into consideration that many players on this realm chose to reroll here to be able to get the most quality out of the limited play time they had, this should come as no surprise. Raiding guilds on the realm tend to raid fewer hours than their more progressed counterparts on other realms. Average time spent raiding is around 10 - 16 hours per week by our most progressed raiding guilds, as opposed to many raiding guilds who raid 25 - 30+. If you are looking for a guild that raids in excess of 20 hours a week, you will not likely find it on Skywall; however, if you can dedicate 12 - 20 hours a week, chances are you will be able to find a raiding guild that will work for you.
We are quality above quantity here on Skywall. Many of our guilds have been built slowly and have stood the test of time.
